Help Us Increase the Light of This Season

As we enter the winter season, each of the upcoming festivals—Chanukah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa—reminds us of a shared call: to increase the light.

In the Talmud, an expansive collection of Jewish wisdom, the rabbis debate how to light the Chanukah menorah. Should we begin with eight candles and decrease each night or should we begin with one candle and increase the light? Ultimately, the law follows the teaching of the great first century sage Hillel: start with one candle and add light each evening, because the purpose of the festival is to increase illumination in the world.

At Spill the Honey, we are deeply committed to that same mission. Through our National Education Initiative, we are increasing the light of understanding, empathy, and shared history across the country.

This season, we invite you to help us expand the light of education—empowering multicultural partnerships and advancing our shared work of combating hate. You can support us by sponsoring Spill the Honey programs in your community and by giving a holiday or year-end gift.

As Dr. Shari Rogers, Spill the Honey’s President and Co-Founder reminds us: “The Shared Legacies documentary that I was blessed to birth teaches that the historic Black–Jewish alliance isn’t just a story—it’s a template. A universal reminder that we all belong to the same human family.”

May we continue to add light together.
