Shared Dreams, Shared Promise Toolkits

During MLK Week, congregations and organizations are invited to take part in a special Black/Jewish educational program from Spill the Honey. The centerpiece is Rabbi Richard (Dick) Hirsch’s powerful 2021 reading of the eulogy he delivered for his close friend, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., just days after King’s assassination in 1968. A pioneering Reform Jewish leader and civil rights advocate, Rabbi Hirsch helped make Washington’s Religious Action Center a hub of the Civil Rights Movement, organizing Jewish participation in the March on Washington and the Selma voting rights campaign.
