Dr. Bruce D. Haynes

Sociologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Davis, with expertise in racialization, racial communities, and racial inequality. A native of Harlem, Dr. Haynes earned his Ph.D. from the City University of New York and previously taught at Yale University as an Assistant Professor African American Studies and Sociology (1995-2001). His award-winning book, The Soul of Judaism: Jews of African Descent in America (NYU Press, 2018), is foundational to understanding and strengthening Black-Jewish relations.
