International Holocaust Remembrance Day  and MLK Day Commemoration

This January, Charlotte's International Holocaust Remembrance Day event will bring communities together by honoring both Holocaust memory

and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., highlighting Black–Jewish relations and shared histories. The program will conclude with the unveiling of the selected design for the Circle of Humanity: Monuments for Unity and Remembrance.

The evening will include a commemoration of the Holocaust, a tribute to Dr. King’s life and work, and at the center of the program will be a screening of Shared Legacies and a moderated conversation featuring Spill the Honey Chair, Dr. Ben Chavis Jr. The event will also highlight progress on Charlotte's Circle of Humanity project. This community-driven initiative unites two enduring symbols of resilience and justice—the existing Martin Luther

King Jr. Memorial and a new Holocaust Memorial —creating a shared space for education, remembrance, and the pursuit of human dignity.
