On this 25th anniversary of September 11, falling on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, we are met with a profound moment of reflection.

Twenty-five years ago, in the face of unimaginable terror, thousands of innocent people in the Twin Towers reached for their phones. They didn’t call to speak about wealth, status, politics, or career milestones. They called to say three simple words: “I love you.”

In their final moments, when everything else was stripped away, love was all that remained.

That is the lesson our world so urgently needs today. 9/11 exposed the devastating extremes of hatred, but it also revealed humanity’s boundless capacity for courage, rescue, sacrifice, and solidarity.

As the sound of the shofar calls us into a season of renewal, Rosh Hashanah reminds us that life is fleeting, our time together is precious, and our future is shaped by the choices we make right now.

Today, honor those we lost by making that call. Reach out to the people who matter most. Tell them you love them while you can. Choose compassion over bitterness, unity over division, and love over hate.

May the memories of all those murdered on September 11, 2001, forever be a blessing. May this new year bring healing, justice, understanding, and peace.

Honoring the profound life and enduring legacy of Dr. William G. Anderson (1928–2026). 🕊️

As a trailblazing physician and the first president of the Albany Movement, Dr. Anderson’s courage helped shape history. We are deeply grateful for his contributions to the civil rights movement and his powerful presence in the documentary Shared Legacies: The African-American Jewish Civil Rights Alliance.

His firsthand accounts of working alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to unity will forever inspire our continuing mission.

In his keynote address at the 2026 Atlanta Summit of Black Pastors and Rabbis, Civil Rights Strategist Eric K. Ward delivered a defining message on the true power of covenant:

“This cannot just be a conference or gathering, it must be a covenant. And by covenant, I don’t mean that we promise to agree. I mean we decide before the next crisis comes what we will refuse to do to one another when that crisis comes. That we will not make each other disposable. That we will not disappear when the fear gets loud. That we will not help somebody else isolate you because standing beside you has become complicated. That is what is meant by covenant — an agreement against abandonment.”
