About
Curriculum Overview The 6-12 curriculum brings together rich historical narratives, drawing from the experiences of Jews and African Americans, illuminating their shared struggles against injustice. By centering on their collaboration, it not only celebrates their resilience but also underscores the importance of solidarity in combating oppression. Aligned with educational standards and complemented by the thought-provoking film "Spill the Honey," this initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding discrimination and the imperative for collective action. Students will engage in five seminars that delve into the intertwining histories of both communities, examining their intersections. Each seminar will be succeeded by discussion prompts and a project-based learning task. At its core, this curriculum seeks to cultivate empathy and promote courageous conversations on issues that have often been marginalized or misunderstood. By confronting head-on, the challenging topics of antisemitism and racism, it provides a platform for authentic dialogue, enabling students to grapple with uncomfortable truths in a supportive and inclusive environment. Through this holistic approach, the curriculum aims to sow the seeds of change, nurturing a generation that is not only academically proficient but also morally conscientious, poised to shape a brighter tomorrow for themselves and future generations.
